Moving from Tally: bring your data across carefully, not by copy-paste

Falcon moves your old data the same careful way it handles every entry: bring it into a holding area, fix the problems, then record it. Here is why that makes switching safer.

The first question every accounts team asks

Before anyone asks about AI or approvals, they ask: what happens to our old data? Years of entries, accounts, and customer and supplier balances live in the current system. Typing it all again is not an option. Copying it blindly is a risk nobody wants to take.

Falcon's answer is to move your data with the same steps it uses for every entry: prepare, check, approve, record.

Bring in, check and fix, record

Falcon includes ways to bring in data from Tally and from other supported sources, using a holding area. There are three parts:

  1. Bring in. Your existing data goes into Falcon's holding area. Nothing is recorded in the books yet.
  2. Check and fix. Falcon shows the problems it found: the same supplier entered twice, balances that do not add up, accounts with no match. A person looks at each one and fixes it.
  3. Record in Falcon. Only the fixed, clean data goes into Falcon's books.

Our promise is simple and careful: we bring your data in step by step, fix problems before anything is recorded, and you end up with one clean set of books.

Why this makes switching safer

Getting a business set up on new software sits naturally with operations, the area a COO such as Vaibhav Jain looks after. From that side, the holding area is not a nice extra. It is what makes the switch something you can review. Every problem found in the holding area is a problem that never reached your books. Fixing problems before recording makes switching over safer.

We move your data carefully. We never just copy it blindly. What gets moved for your business is agreed with you before you start.

About the word “Tally”

We mention Tally because many Indian businesses are moving from it. This is not a comment on whether Tally is good or bad. It simply tells you where our import tools are designed to start. If you use something else, we confirm what is covered before you start.

What to get ready before we talk

  • Which companies and which years need to come across, and which can be archived.
  • Where your customer, supplier and item lists are messy. Falcon will find these, but knowing in advance helps.
  • Which part of your work causes the most matching today. That is usually the best place to start.

The takeaway

Do not judge new software only by its features. Ask how it moves you in. If the answer is “we copy everything on day one”, ask what happens to the problems that copy brings with it. If the answer is “holding area, fix, then record”, you are looking at a move you can check.
